Zaya Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 28, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Fortify Learning ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Zaya mobile application (the "App"). Zaya is a Spanish-learning app offering short lessons, exercises, games, review tools, and optional reminders.
1. Information We Collect
Depending on how you use Zaya, we may collect the following information:
- Information you provide: a first name or nickname, Spanish proficiency level, age bracket, learning motivations, daily learning goal, and notification preference. Your name or nickname is stored only on your device. Other learning preferences may also be used in our product analytics as described below.
- Learning activity: lessons and topics viewed or completed, exercise selections and correctness, game activity and scores, video watch activity, saved words, progress, points, and streak information. Your detailed saved content and progress are stored on your device; related events and summary counts may be collected for analytics.
- Anonymous account and reminder information: Zaya automatically creates an anonymous account identifier so it can securely associate a push-notification token and reminder activity with your installation. If you enable notifications, we may store the push token, device platform, time zone, notification permission status, last active time, and reminder-delivery status.
- Subscription information: product identifiers, purchase and trial events, and subscription or entitlement status. All payments are processed by Apple. We do not receive your payment-card details.
- Device, usage, and diagnostic information: app version, operating system, device or installation identifiers, screen views, app lifecycle events, feature interactions, IP address and approximate region derived from it, error messages, and performance information.
Zaya does not record or upload microphone audio, camera video, contacts, precise location, or payment-card information in its current release.
2. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- provide lessons, exercises, games, saved content, and progress features;
- personalize the learning experience and remember your preferences;
- provide subscription access and display purchase offers;
- send optional learning reminders and process notification responses;
- understand feature usage and improve Zaya;
- diagnose errors, maintain security, and prevent abuse; and
- comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements.
We do not sell your personal information. Zaya does not use your information for targeted advertising or track you across apps or websites owned by other companies.
3. How We Share Information
We share information only as needed with service providers that help us operate Zaya:
- Supabase — anonymous authentication, curriculum delivery, reminder records, and account deletion.
- PostHog — product analytics, feature flags, and application error diagnostics.
- Superwall — paywall presentation, purchase events, and subscription-entitlement status.
- Apple — App Store subscription billing, purchase management, and push-notification delivery.
- Expo — push-notification token registration and delivery infrastructure.
- Bunny Stream — lesson video hosting and delivery.
- YouTube — playback of selected embedded lesson videos, subject to Google's and YouTube's own privacy terms.
These providers may process technical information such as IP addresses, device identifiers, and request logs when delivering their services. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect users or our rights, or as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, or sale of assets.
4. Data Storage, Retention, and Deletion
Your name, saved words, learning history, and detailed progress are stored locally on your device until you reset your progress, delete your account and data, or remove the App. Anonymous account, reminder, subscription, analytics, and diagnostic records are retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide and improve Zaya, maintain security, support purchases, satisfy legal obligations, and resolve disputes.
You can initiate deletion from Profile → Delete account & data in the App. This deletes the anonymous Zaya account and associated reminder records and clears Zaya's locally stored personal progress. Account deletion does not cancel an Apple subscription. Subscriptions can be managed in your Apple Account settings.
Some limited transaction, security, and deidentified or aggregated records may be retained where reasonably necessary or legally required. To request access, correction, or deletion of other information associated with your installation, contact privacy@fortifylearning.com.
5. Your Choices
- You can decline notifications or disable them later in iOS Settings.
- You can reset locally stored learning progress from the Profile screen.
- You can delete your anonymous account and associated data from the Profile screen.
- You can manage or cancel a subscription through your Apple Account subscription settings.
- You may contact us to exercise applicable privacy rights or object to certain processing.
6. Children's Privacy
Zaya is intended for people age 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided information through Zaya, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
7. Security and International Processing
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect information. No transmission or storage system is completely secure. Our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries where they operate, which may have different data-protection laws from your location.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Zaya changes. We will update the "Last updated" date and provide additional notice when required by law.
9. Contact and Terms
Questions or privacy requests can be sent to privacy@fortifylearning.com. Use of Zaya is also subject to Apple's Standard End User License Agreement.
