Delete Your Data

This page explains how to delete your account and the data associated with it in Maya, the language-learning app published by Fortify Learning. You can delete everything yourself from inside the app, or ask us to do it for you by email. Both routes remove the same data.
How to request deletion
Option 1 — Delete from inside the app
- Open the Maya app.
- Go to the Profile tab.
- Tap the settings (gear) icon in the top corner.
- Tap Delete Account.
- Confirm by tapping Delete in the dialog that appears.
Your account and its data are deleted immediately, and you are signed out. This cannot be undone.
Option 2 — Ask us by email
- Email privacy@fortifylearning.com with the subject line "Delete my Maya data".
- Tell us how to find your account: the email address you signed in with, or — if you use Maya without signing in — the name you entered in the app and roughly when you started using it, so we can locate your record.
- We will confirm the deletion by reply. We respond to every request and complete deletion within 30 days of receiving it.
Uninstalling the app on its own does not delete your data from our servers. Please use one of the two options above.
What gets deleted
Deleting your account permanently removes the following from our systems:
- Your account and its identifiers, including your account ID and, if you signed in with one, your email address;
- The name you entered in the app;
- Your age range, the language you're learning, and your other learning preferences;
- Your lesson progress, streaks, and activity history;
- Your speaking and pronunciation attempts, including voice transcripts and the scores generated from them;
- Any videos you recorded and uploaded in the app;
- Any feedback you submitted through the app;
- Your push notification tokens, so we can no longer send notifications to your device; and
- Analytics identifiers and the usage events linked to them.
What we keep, and for how long
- Encrypted backups. Deleted data may persist in our providers' routine encrypted backups for up to 30 days after deletion, after which those backups are overwritten. Backups are not used to restore deleted accounts.
- Aggregated and de-identified statistics. We keep aggregate figures — such as total lessons completed across all users — that cannot be linked back to you or any individual. These are retained indefinitely.
- Support correspondence. If you emailed us, we keep that email thread for up to 24 months so we have a record of your request.
- Records required by law. We keep the minimum records we are legally required to retain for tax, accounting, security, or fraud-prevention purposes, for no longer than the applicable law requires.
